A big party on Monday night but no sunday speaker dinner at Les Blogs 2.0

I hear rumors and I receive emails about this so let me just clarify unlike at Les Blogs 1.0 there will not be any official speaker dinner on Sunday this time for the following reasons:
- we felt bad about inviting only speakers and let the participants out (you know the feeling the next day "have you been to the cool dinner yesterday ?" and you missed it because you were not invited and feel bad about it, right ? So none of that this time
- participants are super important to us, you're all speakers ! We hope the backchannel will work fine for that
-  we wanted to get either everybody in a party like the one on Monday night or nobody
- the total cost of the conference is above 100K€ for two days including 17K€ for good wifi (I kill somebody if it does not work ;-) so unfortunately we don't have the budget for a sunday night dinner with everybody
- thanks to our sponsors we can make all these things happen during monday, monday night and tuesday, isn't it cool already ?
- there are already tens of side events being organized before, during and after the conference, so there will be opportunities to have fun...

So, no official dinner on Sunday, I am not even sure where I will be myself, probably still preparing things and running around with the Les Blogs team.

Have fun, you can always organize your own geek dinner on Sunday night and use the wiki to gather.

And Marc, stop inventing that rumour of a private private close friends of Loic special dinner on Sunday, this is *not* my style, all Les Blogs 2.0 participants are friends, at least I hope :-P

New side event : tour the newsroom of the International Herald Tribune

Dear Les Blogeurs,

Those attending the conference are cordially invited to tour the newsroom of the International Herald Tribune www.iht.com

The world's widest circulated general interest newspaper, the IHT was founded in Paris in 1887 and is now printed in more than 30 cities and distributed in more than 150 countries daily. The visit will include a tour of the newsroom and discussion with editors about the issues involved in producing the paper, which has been fully owned by The New York Times since 2004.

I will lead people from the conference following the last panel on Monday and return in time for the dinner.

There are limited spaces and the newspaper's security team needs names in advance, so please let me know if you would like to attend.

Sincerely,

Tom Crampton
Correspondent International Herald Tribune

What about Blogging Planet ?

Well, initially Les Blogs 2.0 was a combination of "Around the blog" organised by my consultancy Blogging Planet, an event planed for october and Loïc's set of conference "Les Blogs" which first edition happen in april this year.

That's why till recently the banner showed "Les Blogs 2.0", organised by Six Apart and Blogging Planet.

But I've been contacted by Edelman in september and I decided to join them and to leave my consultancy. For that reason, as my alliance partners Elizabeth Albrycht, Neville Hobson and I decided to  dissolve Blogging Planet and to follow our own path, it didn't make sense anymore to keep our brand associated to the event.

That's why Blogging Planet is no more associated to the event, but rather Elizabeth and I ourselves as "person", still strongly involved in the organisation of the event at Loïc's side.

I just wanted to clarify the situation and to answer to many emails I am getting from people or friends asking if I am still involved: YES, and I can tell you that the last step was the Wifi topic and that it is solved, we'll have a great hotspot !

Guillaume

Early Stage

We are happy to announce LES BLOGS 2.0 in PARIS on December 5th & 6th.

Capture121tmThe first Les Blogs was held in April 2005 in Paris and was very successful, with 250 people from 25 countries attending the one-day event. This time, the event has been expanded to two days, the first focusing on the phenomenon, the second on the tools. Robert Scoble and Shel Israel have signed on to speak, and will be announcing more speakers soon.

Another piece of good news is that Loic Le Meur of Six Apart has invited Blogging Planet to co-produce Les Blogs, to make it a two-day event.
Given how close the dates were for "Les Blogs" and "Around the Blog", Blogging Planet has decided to move its October 11 event to December 6, making it Day 2 of Les Blogs with a similar schedule and the same speakers.
The cost for this event will be 200 EUR (VAT excluded) which will include the two-day conference, lunch on both days and the cocktail party on Monday evening.
Registration and Program will be available in a few days and you will be able to follow all the information about the conference on this weblog.

We hope you can join us!
